BE BOLD TODAY

For if what was being brought to an end came with glory, much more will what is permanent have glory. Since we have such a hope, we are very bold. - 2 Corinthians 3:11-12

Defining talent.

Ever since we were little parents, teachers, media, and even strangers pushed us to finding our own talents. Growing up that just made me feel like I had no talent. So many people around me could sing, dance, draw, etc. but the truth is I never tried to find my talent because I thought the only talents were those few things.
Thinking these things made me insecure about a lot of things, but it also made me feel like I had nothing special about me. Let me start by saying if you think that, STOP. Stop lying to yourself, each and everyone of us have something special about us. But as a whole we are God's MASTERPIECE. That's right, His masterpiece.
So why do we think we aren't special, and feel like we have no talent. God has given us all special talents, but even when we realize our talents we tend to use them wrong. You see God has given us the talents we have so we can use them to worship Him and to show others the amazing God He is.
When we look at scripture it talks about many different talents, but one that is mentioned a lot is wisdom. It's interesting how God provides scripture after scripture showing us that he provides talents of many for His people. From singing to showing the love of Christ. Let me show you some.
Exodus 31:3-5 "I have filled him with the Spirit of God in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all kinds of craftsmanship, to make artistic designs for work in gold, in silver, and in bronze, and in the cutting of stones for settings, and in the carving of wood, that he may work in all kinds of craftsmanship."
Romans 12:6 "Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly: if prophecy, according to the proportion of his faith."
These are just two of many, the point of this post it to remind you God plans to use you if you let Him. Not all talent looks the same, WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT. So let's stop hiding our God given talents. I have a friend who is truly gifted in hospitality, I have no doubt God has given her that talent for His kingdom, and she uses it incredibly. God has so much planned for us that we can't see, we have to trust Him.
Starting today, give Him full control of the masterpiece He has created from the beginning.

And that's part of the problem - trying to move things forward our own ways instead of submitting it all to God

Yes, we have to give Him control!

I was just talking about this today...if we are relying on our gifts but not using God's power as we use them for His glory, we are missing the point of having them.

I remember reading in the new testament about spiritual gifts. One of them was generosity. People always give me a hard time about not holding onto material things. But i learned thats something God has placed in me. By his standard its a talent. That was really encouraging to learn.

God has given us all talents and abilities. Sometimes it takes time to figure those out, but we can continue to be faithful to Him and His word along the way. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. - Amy
