BE BOLD TODAY
Clean the house, get groceries, workout. Check, check, and check! This is not the to do list I need to get rid of! Growing up I've developed this way about me that I plan ahead and I can't imagine not checking my list of things off to get to the goal I planned for myself. One example is my marriage, I quickly had this goal, for me and my husband, to be the "best" arguers we could be. I realize that sounds silly but I know there is a healthy way to go about arguments in a marriage, and let me tell you I did NOT do good at this at first, and am still working on it! When we first got married in any argument I could say this one line that would get to my husband, and I would use that. I grew up with three brothers who were obviously stronger than me, so all I had was my words. Well that is clearly not healthy, especially in my marriage.
Well for arguments in particular I had this "to do list" of things me and John should do for us to get better! Let me be clear it is not bad to communicate, and work on how you argue, etc. But it is bad to focus on nothing else but that list, and all you are doing wrong. That's exactly what I did, especially with our first kid on the way. I wanted his parents to have their stuff figured out! But God has reminded me, I am a newlywed. Me and my husband are still figuring so many things out, the more I push this "perfect" relationship the more I am not trusting God to be the one who works in our relationship. So yes, I am throwing away my "to do list" to try and do everything as close to perfect as possible, and letting God guide my steps! It's funny how most of my blogs tend to end with giving God control! But my heart is that we keep moving forward and we do give God control in school, work, marriages, government, every aspect of our life is His! “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The One who fears is not made perfect in love.” - 1 John 4:18 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” - Isaiah 41:10
